With my Crystal Palace Labour colleagues - Dr Josh King and Allison Roche - I fully support the campaign to keep the use of the Bingo Hall and restore it to a cinema for Crystal Palace. Before Christmas the planning application to convert the hall into a church was refused at Bromley Planning Committee. Labour councillors were at the meeting and supported the refusal of the application. We will now work with local residents in campaigning to bring back a cinema to the area - Crystal Palac...
We've won the pools! I am delighted that the future of swimming in Forest Hill has been secured following the decision by Lewisham Council to develop the existing site. The frontage of the pools will be retained, with a new pool being added behind. Since the old pools closed I had been working hard to try and ensure safe swimming facilities returned to Forest Hill - and I am also very pleased that Lewisham council has joined the scheme to allow free swimming for the under 16s and the over...
After many years of campaigning I am delighted to see the final phase of the East London line extension coming to our part of South East London - over the years I have been instrumental in fighting for this major extension and I am really looking forward to seeing it open in May. Whilst I greatly welcome this extension to our transport links in SE London I am angry at the fare hikes imposed by the Tory mayor Boris Johnson.
