I am very proud that last year Lewisham became the first Civic Centre in the UK to become a "Safe-Haven" for young people. With my Crystal Palace Labour colleagues - Dr Josh King and Allison Roche - I fully support the campaign to keep the use of the Bingo Hall and restore it to a cinema for Crystal Palace. Before Christmas the planning application to convert the hall into a church was refused at Bromley Planning Committee. We've won the pools! I am delighted that the future of swimming in Forest Hill has been secured following the decision by Lewisham Council to develop the existing site. The frontage of the pools will be retained, with a new pool being added behind. After many years of campaigning I am delighted to see the final phase of the East London line extension coming to our part of South East London - over the years I have been instrumental in fighting for this major extension and I am really looking forward to seeing it open in May.
